Why your grandparents didn’t have food allergies … and you do?
Do you really want to know why your grandparents did not have food allergies? It’s quite easy…
Below were some of the things they did to avoid food allergies;
1) They ate only seasonal foods from original source.
The foods they ate came from farms and small markets in the early 1900′s, and because food preservatives were not widely used then, foods were fresh. Due to lack of processed foods, their diets were nutrients-filled making them to get the required nourishment they needed from their foods. For infants, breast milk was taken very seriously and valued; it was always in season.
2) They did not diet or engaged in preventive games with their body and metabolism. They ate foods when they were available.
Our grandparents did not get themselves involved in dieting activities; calorie counting, food marketing and other harmful dieting habits that are rampant today (may be because marketing infrastructures did not exist then). For this reason, they lived a healthier life by having good metabolism and ate according to how their bodies dictated.
3) They cooked their foods at home by themselves, using traditional preparation methods from the very first beginning.
Buying readily processed foods was not an option for them, and eating out was in rare cases. Lucky for them, these habits actually enhanced the state of their general well being.
4) They didn’t eat foods sourced from GMOs, thickeners, food additives and stabilizers.
Foods then were not treated with antibiotics, additives and hormones to assist in the preservation of shelf life and pad the pockets of food manufacturers in the early 1900s to the detriment of the consumers’ health.
5) They consumed whole animal together with the bone broths that are mineral rich and organ meats.
Animal bones were served as meat to make broths and soups, and organ meats used to have a special place at the dining table during dinner. These foods were cherished for their medicinal composition and were never wasted.
6) They didn’t go to the doctor when they felt sick or take prescription medications. Doctor visits were saved for accidental injuries and life threatening illness.
When they got a fever, they waited it out. When they felt sick, they ate soups, broths and got lots of rest. They did not have their doctor or nurse on speed dial, and trusted the body’s natural healing process a whole lot more than we do today. Their food was medicine, whether they realized it or not.
7) They spent lots of time outside.
Our grandparents didn’t have the choice to stay inside and play on their phones, computers and gaming systems. They played on the original play-station: bikes, swing-sets and good ol’ mother nature!
And what do these things have to do with food allergies?
Nutrition affects EVERY cell in our body. The health of our cells is dependent on diet and lifestyle. Cells create tissues, tissues create organs, and we are made up of a system of organs. If your nutrition is inadequate, the integrity of each cell, tissue and organ in your body will suffer, thus you may be MORE sensitive to certain foods.
